The future of Custom Cards Empty
PostSubject: The future of Custom Cards   The future of Custom Cards Icon_minitimeFri Sep 20, 2013 9:59 pm

I was just wondering if people either expect or want to see custom cards have more weight in the game. I've been thinking, if a big enough community is built up, could there be vids showcasing knew archetypes and cards, reviews recorded duels and tournaments? I try to pull as many people here by showing screenshots and linking them to Jack's tutorial, but could this attract enough attention to really be as consistent as regular duel, opening, review, etc vids? I hope so because ygocardmaker and yugico have so many people already making oricas. It just seems putting the effort into making cards from scratch is a turnoff though. Plus I've noticed a bias against them from so-called competitive duellists who'd rather keep the game to a netdecking, who has the most money has the best deck stagnant game. I remember people complaining the format was too open now and that there were too many good decks to have to side against.

i say it probably won't be as big as normal TCG, but i do hope Mackpro grows popular enough so everytime you open it there could be at least 1 person you could duel, even if we need hamachi for now

i need to dl that soon because i really need to test these against something new with someone who knows what they're doing with them because the AI can only do so much. I thought the scripting of effects was hard; I couldn't even guess what I was looking at the first time I tried to check the AI lol. I'll eventually learn that as well. How I would love this game to be is extremely similar to how the anime is. Each time you play someone new, they'll also have a new deck. You'll never know what's next and it'll be hard to keep going against the same thing over and over, which suuuuuuucks in the TCG because people find it so hard to try to be original. But with this hopefully gaining even a bit of momentum, it'll be close. I also get sick of people posting duels of the same 'top tier' decks...it really gets boring after a while.

it's hard to tell people that scripting is easy mostly because it looks really complicated and stuff while the initial effect is usually just split into 3 parts(cost/condition sometimes both, target and operation) and you pretty much copy paste to make them work.

at first i thought scripting was really hard and tedious work and you had to be an expert on that but in like 1 week i learned that is totally not true

Same here...though I still suck at lv's lol
I was trying to teach a kid off fb about the copy/paste method he just kept wanting me to just do it. Funny thing is that I met him because he claimed he had a friend that scripts his and would script mine, now a couple months later I'm knocking his off lol.

i never tried working with lv's yet, mostly cause i get ideas from artworks more than card effects. i also only scripted like 5 spells/traps but i think i know how they work now

you'll be able to use the cards as you script them. no one else will. here, it's basically a hub for sharing. you can learn and just make your own and be done with it, but you can also get the ok from outlaw to have them added and let others use them and also be able to use any of their that were added as well. if someone here scripts them, then they'll just have to zip it then send it to you or if they will be added to mackpro, just wait for the newest release they'll be in.

I'm still waiting for a Mac version of MackPro. I tried to download it, but nothing ever works on my MacBook... the whole not having to worry about viruses thing doesn't do much for me when I can't download cool stuff...

People are retarded as hell! I went to YCM to tell people about what this site is trying to build up and people, instead of just admitting they're too lazy to actually learn, just threw out insults on the look of the site smmfh. We're nothing compared to YCM in making, reviewing or making balanced cards, just looking at the site, at a glance, and screaming it was too ugly to join lmmfao. I've been signed up to that site for years and that was a reminder as to why I don't participate over there. People are arrogant as hell about a damn game. No one knows how to just have fun and still be competitive. I've seen their reviewers and they suck! This one guy, that I actually had a convo with, made stupid assumptions about the site though I kept explaining it and then said it was hard to do a review because people here were posting whole archetypes...you suck at reviewing then! And after everything, the post was locked. I'll just keep using their card maker, but I'll stay the hell away from their forums.

Alright. Quick question. When downloaded...can it be played offline? Like against an A.I. or something?

well for me a basic card can take a couple mins a more advanced card 1/2 hour to an hour but for a begginner it depends on how quickly you learn when i started it took me half a day to script basic cards and a few days to do advanced cards

I have to say, I was very thrilled to know that YGOPro allowed you to add custom cards. I've always enjoyed making custom cards, but it was sad to know I could never play them. It all changed when I learned you could add them to YGOPro, if you just put a little effort into it. And so I started learning how to add cards, and it has been a fun thing for me to do. Scripting is very fun once you get the hang of it. Surprised

I'm just sad that the standards for "broken cards" are very low in here; my custom cards probably won't get added to MackPro. Sad Well, using them against the AI is still fun, I guess!
